That was the case once again when lining up against Canada in the semi-finals of the W Gold Cup. Testing conditions in San Diego meant that the Snapdragon Stadium pitch was almost unplayable, but Shaw still found a way of hitting the target.

She was assisted by a puddle, as an ill-advised Canadian backpass held up on the waterlogged pitch, but showed remarkable composure to clip the ball into the back of the net. In doing so, Shaw became the first player to score in each of her first four starts for the USWNT.
