Arsenal are considering launching a £44.3m bid for Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman, according to beIN SPORTS.
What’s the word?
New manager Unai Emery has been quick off the mark in the transfer window.
The Spaniard, who replaced Arsene Wenger earlier this summer, has strengthened the defence and midfield with five new faces in total.
There have been rumblings that the North London outfit are in the market for a new winger to provide pace and zest down the flanks.
According to beIN SPORTS, Bayern’s Coman is one target under consideration, and the Gunners are willing to part with over £44m to get a deal done.
The 22-year-old, who has already won six league titles despite his young age, joined the German giants permanently from Juventus last year following a two-year loan spell.
Across three seasons in the Bundesliga, Coman has played in 63 league matches, scored nine goals and created 11 assists, while he has 15 goals in 93 games for Bayern in total, as per Transfermarkt.
How would he fit into Emery’s team?
As the manager is likely to field a 4-3-3 system, Coman would be situated on the left side of attack.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is expected to lead the line, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan on the right.
If this transpired, then Coman’s arrival could be bad news for Alexandre Lacazette, who at times last season forced Aubameyang wide left.
Depending on form, it is highly unlikely that Emery will sacrifice Aubameyang’s place in the team to accommodate Lacazette.
Therefore, if Coman cements a place on the left wing, then the former Lyon attacker could find himself out of favour, and it could be the start of the end of his Arsenal career.
